Supporting Children Through Charity Sports Events

The MCA Trust is committed to supporting children and young people throughout their cancer journey. Through our charity sports events, we provide opportunities for children recovering from cancer treatment to participate in sports. These activities offer physical, emotional, and social benefits, helping them regain confidence and reconnect with their peers.

Expanding Access to Sports

To make sports more accessible, we have partnered with Everyone Active, one of the UK’s largest sports and leisure providers. This partnership allows children, parents, and siblings to enjoy a variety of inclusive sports events at high-quality venues across Essex. Many of these activities are available at discounted rates or even free, ensuring that every family can participate.

The Impact of Sports on Recovery

Founded in memory of Michael Charles Adams MBE, the MCA Trust recognises the transformative impact of sports. Our charity sports events help children rebuild strength, regain independence, and create lasting memories with their families. After long periods away from school and social activities, these experiences play a vital role in their emotional well-being.

Supporting Local Sports Teams

Beyond hosting events, we proudly sponsor grassroots sports teams across Essex. By working with local football, rugby, and cricket clubs, we promote community involvement and raise awareness of childhood cancer. These initiatives ensure that children affected by cancer remain part of a supportive and active community.

Alongside the physical benefits, being part of a group participating in sport helps rebuild confidence and self-esteem, which can often be completely shattered by a child's cancer journey. Chairman of the charity, Keith Isaacs, explains, “At the MCA Trust, we fundamentally believe that a child who has recovered from cancer should not have the rest of their life blighted by the experience."
