A children’s cancer charity
with a difference
Childhood cancer charity Essex. The MCA Trust supports cancer patients under the age of 22 across East London and Essex. We aim to bring hope and happiness to these vibrant young people and their families during some of the most challenging times they’ll ever face.

In memory of Michael
Childhood cancer charity Essex. The trust was established in 2011 in memory of Michael Charles Adams, MBE. Michael spent much of his life supporting children’s charities and was honoured to receive an MBE in 2006 for his work on youth initiatives in his beloved local community. Sadly, in 2010, he lost a short battle with a brain tumour. The MCA Trust is a fitting legacy that has already made a difference to more than 15 families’ individual cancer journeys, alongside projects to benefit all users of children’s cancer wards at numerous hospitals.
What do we do?

At MCA Trust, our work is both varied and far-reaching. We provide financial and emotional support not only in hospitals but also beyond their walls.
By working closely with local NHS Trusts, we identify and fund projects that create a real impact for children battling cancer. For example, we have purchased advanced medical equipment and refurbished children’s oncology areas, ensuring a better experience for every patient.
We also recognise that respite between treatments plays a crucial role in recovery. At the same time, we understand how challenging the cancer journey is for the entire family. That’s why we arrange experiences and holidays to sought-after destinations—giving children the chance to live out their dreams.
At Childhood Cancer Charity Essex, we remain committed to making these special moments a reality.

Lily's Story
At just six years old, Lily was diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis Type 1. As a result, she faced intensive treatment schedules and long hospital stays, missing out on many normal childhood experiences. Meanwhile, her family endured immense pressure, providing round-the-clock care and support.
Once doctors finally cleared Lily for long-haul travel, The MCA Trust stepped in to help. They booked an all-expenses-paid family holiday to Disney World Florida, making a dream come true.
This much-needed break gave the family a chance to reconnect and create incredible memories. During the trip, Lily shared a heart-warming sentiment with her mum, saying she “felt free.”
Soon after, she happily returned to school and resumed a more normal routine. Reflecting on the experience, Lily’s family expressed their deep gratitude, saying they “couldn’t thank The MCA Trust enough for funding the precious time spent together at Disney World.
